Soneva Fushi's Private Reserve — Villa 11 — is the most extraordinary villa in the Maldives, and among the most celebrated private residences in hospitality anywhere. Built in the spirit of a barefoot island mansion, it spans an entire corner of Kunfunadhoo Island, with the jungle meeting the beach at its doorstep and a house reef of exceptional health immediately offshore.
The Private Reserve features a water slide from the villa directly into the lagoon, an 11-metre viewing tower with the Moonlight Table, a private spa suite with sauna and steam room, a gym, a wine cellar and library, and a sunken outdoor dining area beneath the canopy. A dedicated Barefoot Butler anticipates every need.
Baa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home to manta ray aggregations at Hanifaru Bay — one of the world's most significant marine encounters. From the Private Reserve, the reef lies just steps away.
Villa 11 is the Private Reserve — the largest and most extraordinary villa in the Maldives, located on the sunrise side of Kunfunadhoo Island's southeastern tip. The 3,048 square metre estate is built around an ancient Banyan tree and a rare beachfront position directly above Soneva Fushi's celebrated house reef. The architecture is pure Soneva: palm-frond roofs, woven rope banisters, open-air garden bathrooms open to the jungle, and a design philosophy that refuses to distinguish between inside and outside.
The Private Reserve operates as a resort within the resort. Two private swimming pools — including a main lagoon-like pool with a water slide and a sunken catamaran net — are surrounded by expansive sun decks, daybeds, and an outdoor sunken dining area beneath the jungle canopy. The master suite has its own private pool, detached bathroom with bathtub, and open upper-floor sundeck. A private spa suite, sauna, steam room, gym, wine cellar, library, and TV lounge complete an estate that requires no facility outside its own boundary.
From October 2024, the Private Reserve includes a dedicated Villa Manager and Villa Attendant, providing 24/7 service as standard, alongside a private chef on call. In-villa dining is available from any of Soneva Fushi's 14 restaurants at any hour. The Barefoot Butler tradition — shoes off, cares left at the jetty — begins the moment you step onto the island.
Soneva Fushi has 14 distinct dining destinations, from So Guilty — a dedicated chocolate room and artisan ice cream parlour that functions as a culinary experience in its own right — to Shades of Green, where the evening begins with a guided tour of the island's organic garden before a dinner of Maldivian and Southeast Asian plant-based dishes cooked with Nordic techniques. The dining programme is available in-villa from any menu at any hour, prepared by your private chef or the Private Reserve's dedicated kitchen team.
The sandbank dinner — included in Richseen's package — takes the private chef experience off the island entirely. A private yacht deposits your party on a deserted Baa Atoll sandbank as the sun descends; the chef prepares a barefoot dinner surrounded by the Indian Ocean with no other guests, no other horizon, and no itinerary except the one the tide sets. This is the Private Reserve's dining philosophy at its most complete: not a restaurant, but a setting shaped entirely around your party.
In-villa dining, private beach barbecues, a sunken outdoor dining area beneath the jungle canopy, and the full 14-restaurant programme of Soneva Fushi are all available throughout the stay. The resort's wine cellar — available through the villa's own library — covers the full programme.
Every day on Soneva Fushi is shaped by the island's extraordinary natural setting — from the house reef steps from your door to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve surrounding you.
Hanifaru Bay manta aggregations peak June–November. Your Richseen specialist will align travel dates with optimal marine conditions.
